Off to a great start!

Can you believe we are already nine days into the school year? What a start it has been! From the moment the doors opened on day one, our campus has been filled with bright smiles, from students, parents, and teachers alike, and such wonderful anticipation for the year ahead. The energy in our classrooms has been contagious as students reconnect with old friends, meet new ones, and dive into all the learning (and fun!) this year has to offer.

As we begin this year together, I want to share our school theme with you: "Rooted, Growing, and Thankful," taken from Colossians 2:6-7.

"So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness."

I would love to share a few highlights from these first two weeks with you. First, our House system is officially underway, and I could not be prouder of our Student Leadership team. They took real ownership of this process, thoughtfully selecting both the students and the teachers who make up each House. It has been such a joy watching their careful decisions come to life as students discover their Houses and build new friendships with classmates across different grade levels.

Our athletes have also made us proud, on the court and on the course! Our volleyball teams played their first games, and our cross-country runners competed in their first meets. It was wonderful to see our students represent our school with heart and effort.

Now, like any good beginning, we still have a few things we are smoothing out, and I truly appreciate your patience as we do. Our carline is a little busier this year, we have welcomed additional students, new parents, and new teachers, and our team is working hard every morning and afternoon to keep it moving safely and efficiently. Thank you for your grace out there, and for your kindness to one another and to our staff.

You may have noticed a few small tweaks to individual class schedules as we make sure every student is in the right place at the right time. We are also excited to roll out parent-friendly, informative lesson plans, also still being tweaked, as a clear window into what your children are learning each week. We know our parents, especially our hybrid families, have wanted a more detailed view, and we are glad to be able to provide it.  Lower Grammar’s format will change next week and Upper Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric will have an adjusted view to help you identify assignments quicker.

I also want to tell you about our first chapels, which have been a true highlight of these early days. There is something special about our whole community gathering together to worship and to be reminded of who we are and whose we are, rooted and built up in Him, just as the verse says.

As we look ahead, I simply cannot wait for what this year holds in the classroom, in the chapel, in the gym, and beyond. I would love to invite every family to get involved however you are able, whether that is on campus, volunteering in classrooms, helping at events, cheering on our teams, or off campus, partnering with us in prayer and support. There are so many ways to be part of this wonderful BCS community, and we would be honored to have you.

One quick reminder: please make a habit of checking Gradelink regularly for announcements, assignments, deadlines, and updates. It is the very best way to stay connected and in the know all year long.

Thank you, as always, for entrusting your children to us. We are so grateful for this partnership and for this BCS community. As we stay rooted in Christ, grow together in faith, and give thanks for one another, I know this is going to be a wonderful year of growth, joy, and discovery for every single student.
